ACD was established with the vision of providing a technology that can create safe and effective drug entities that manipulate the dynamics of a targeted protein while avoiding unintended cellular side-effects. ACD does this through cell-based assay panels that encompass broad representations of pharmaceutically relevant gene families predominantly involving kinases.
The project serves to educate existing and prospective clients about tyrosine kinase cell-based assays in a way that will compel them to more seriously look at ACD’s products and services.
The content will be understandable by all audiences, short in length, elegant and powerful in its delivery. In addition to this, the project aims to establish ACD’s science in the marketplace and set it apart
from the competition.
In the drug discovery world, researchers are increasingly turning to functional assays as secondary screens.
But when you start discovery with a functional screen, you can save time and money
by focusing efforts on compounds that are most effective inside the cell – where it matters.
Let's look at drug resistance. Mutations are often responsible for this –
they in essence change the shape of the kinase
and that in turn disrupts compound function.
But mutations aren't the only thing that interferes with compound function.
You see, kinase genes also recombine
to generate novel proteins, like BCR-ABL.
There are many different recombinant fusions found in nature, and like mutations they change how well your compounds work!
Why is this? Well, for the last ten years we’ve been exploring this question
using the industry’s most comprehensive panel of isogenic cell-based tyrosine kinase assays.
Our research has taught us that proteins exist in a world of complex interactions
that shape both their function and structure.
These interactions only take place inside a cell, they cannot be replicated in a test tube,
and they can derail the best drug discovery programs.
We are Advanced Cellular Dynamics
and our mission is to help our clients leverage this complexity – to embrace it as a competitive advantage rather than worry about it.
